Welcome to Ooakfaeries.com
I hope you take your time and look at my journey into the Art of OOAK doll making.
One of a kind doll sculpting is in its infancy in Australia.
There are no formal study institutions in Australia for this Art. I have been studying for 2 years over the internet and by purchasing tutorials from Artists who have recognized that there is no training available for such a wonderful art form, and have taken the time to share their learning through a beginner tutorial.
I am enrolled in a wonderful forum in England, their community of artists are very giving and helpful to the learner. I will have all details on my links page so you can go and join this forum yourself and enjoy the friendship and a level of help that has no boundary.
The One of a kind Art Form technically means that the piece has been completely sculptured without the use of a mold or any outside assistance by any preformed piece. The Art is completely sculptured by the Artist.
These pieces can take days and even weeks to produce depending on the level of detail in the piece. I have taken weeks making some of my sculpts from the planning to the purchasing of fabrics, sourcing the correct colour of mohair which will compliment your piece.
All these considerations will be made by the artist before she even picks up a piece of clay. The Armature has to be proportionate to the head and the size of the hands and feet.
The human body IS science and mathematics. We don't see that but it is. The Artist's work represents just how much time and study they have taken to produce those pieces. That is why you see some very simplistic work from beginners to some pieces that you would swear were a little person completely reproduced.
There are some amazing artist work out there and because the OOAK Art is in its infancy, there are only a handful of Collectors out there to give the Artist her just reward for a piece that has taken weeks to reproduce. I hope you take the time to look at my pieces and know that each piece was a journey into the study of the One of a kind Art world.
